The Roxbury High School Competition Cheer team wins #9 in the NATION!

On February 8th, 2020, the Roxbury High School Competition Cheer team won 9th in the NATION for their Super Varsity Game Day routine at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, FL. They were the only team from New Jersey in the Super Varsity Game Day Division pack to earn a Finalist position. Way to go Gaels!

The team advanced through a tough preliminary round, after competing against 30 teams from across the country, to clinch a semi-finals spot. Then the team advanced through a tougher semi-finals round of 16 teams to become a UCA Nationals Finalist for Super Varsity Game Day Division II. Along the way, the team "Hit Zero" two times with their performances adding to the weekend's list of achievements. And, advancing to the Finalist round is the Gael’s first since 2010.

The journey to Nationals was no small feat. In order to claim a spot in the coveted competition, the team had to qualify. After overcoming some injuries and maintaining a "never give up" attitude, the team clinched their bids when they were awarded 2nd place at the UCA Regionals competition in Long Island, NY for both their Game Day and Super Varsity performances.

Throughout their season, the team maintained a positive attitude, persevered through setbacks, and dedicated countless hours of hard work on and off the mat. In the end, the culmination of these attributes paid big dividends for the Gaels cheer athletes.
